2009-11-22Richard10101010NoHello Jack, Thanks for taking the time to assist me with my quest of identification. I don't think it is an asilidae (robber fly) because it does not have a notch between the eyes and no nail like proboscis. I will contact the gentlemen you suggested as a resource. Thank you, Richard

2009-11-17Mark10101010NoThanks so much Jack. I think this might just solve the case of the night invasion. I will do a thorough cleaning of the shed, wash my clothes immediately, wash and dry all bedding and put out the rat poison. I have a plan thinks to this wonderful service. I truly appreciate all the time and attention! 10's across the board!
2009-11-12Kathy10101010NoThank you so much for your 2 responses. At least I know what it's not and a possibility as to what it might be. Asking the Entomology dept or Extension Service are good suggestions--next little mystery biting bug may be taking a trip!

2009-10-21Alicia10101010YesThank you anyways. We washed them down the drain but if I see anymore I will do what you said and I will try to get a picture to post so maybe you can see them.
2009-10-20Caralee10101010NoThanks! I'm surprised that this is the first time I've seen one of these crickets since we've lived here 5 years. But maybe if I looked around at night... the "potato bugs" I remember from my childhood were definitely creepy looking, but I don't remember the stripes, just a big white bug. I appreciate your expertise!

2009-10-15Diana10101010YesThanks Jack! I am am sure happy to know that I wasn't horrified for nothing after seeing this wheel bug. Yes, it is a wheel bug and I am not looking forward to another visit from it.
2009-10-14Steve10101010YesThanks very much, Jack!
2009-10-12Pedro10101010YesThanks for the speedy response. I had perused your website even before posting my question here. It's very informative and useful, specially the DIY non-panic / non-toxic approach. Pity that, in case of necessity, it's still so hard if not impossible to find botanical insecticides in Europe. If you're interested, here's the article where I read that the latency between a bedbug bite and the body's reaction to it can take up to 10 days: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1088931-overview Best regards.

2009-10-10Becky10101010YesThanks Jack! That is it all right. I'm sorry I let a possible pest go out into the world, but at least now I know what I'm dealing with. That second link was super informative.
