2009-11-11Terry10101010YesThank you for answering my question with no photo to help you out. The link that you sent had some photos of imature, lacewing carrying lichen, that helped me look for other links that indeed had similar looking images of bugs to the one I have captured. At first I was unconvinced, until I saw a picture of an underside with the appendages,(other than the actual legs) that might make the 'lichen' move in a flexable manner and able to have a ripple effect... http://bugguide.net/node/view/174276/bgimage I will turn it lose on a lichen covered tree, to hopefully grow into an adult who will keep my outside plants free of aphids
2009-11-11Gintare10101010Yesi was not even expecting that my question will be answered that fast!!!!

2009-09-28Tara10101010NoThanks so very much for the explanations (as gross as they are :-) ) My two were fascinated by the information, and it certainly calmed me. I was worried they might get sick or something. The caterpillars are fuzzy black, kinda orangish tips I think. I won't go near them ,yet. I am slowly trying to get used to having bugs around us. My kiddos however are FASCINATED by them. I have to learn to like them. So thank you again for helping us get to know these "friends" better. Have a great day!
2009-09-24Vicki10101010NoSorry, could not find my bug on your site. I called our exterminator and he ID'd it as a 'stink bug'. Don't know if that's the technical word for it, but it's good enough for me (or bad, depending on how you look at it). Thanks for replying to my email.
2009-09-16Carrie10101010YesI am 33 years old and all my life have I fished in the waters in NE KS and not once have I ever encountered such and odd looking bug. The site that you provided showed pictures of this bug and seemed to match my memory of what it had looked like. Your response was quick and accurate. I appreciate the information you provided me and I will now be careful where I stick my hands and sit down. Thank you so much. Carrie

2009-07-29bob101088Yeshi ty for the response, i found out what it was. it wound up being called a sun spider among many other names. apparently the 2 front legs are arms so it still has 8 legs. sry for my lack of knowledge and patience, but i appreciate yours.

2009-05-31Priti10101010NoThankyou so much for your prompt reply. Apparently, those bugs are called as "Lawn shrimps", and I learned this from allexperts.com . I would be glad to send you few pics of the same. Thankyou once again.
2009-05-28sandra10101010YesThank you for some peace of mind.I recently released some ladybugs and they did a fabulous job of ridding aphids from my roses. My neighbors also thanked me for their new friends.

2009-04-01Jeffery10101010YesThe list of further links to research is helpful. Thanks!
2009-03-25Karen10101010YesThanks, Sue. I appreciate your timely answer. And thank you for the links to photos of bedbugs. I now feel confident that it was not a bedbug. But at 1 am...it was hard to get back to bed, y'know? Although you said that Boxelder bugs don't bite humans, my husband is quite certain that it was indeed a Boxelder. He saw one on the bed earlier in the evening, and after I got bit, he found (we believe) the culprit, among the sheets. He smooshed it beyond recognition, so no photo is available. We live in Wisconsin, and are fairly well acquainted with the Boxelder. I have no visible bite mark, nor itchiness that may be associated with a bedbug bite. So it may have to remain a mystery. So, much thanks, again for your expertise in this matter! -Karen
