| 2010-08-04 | Sean | Covered vent - accidentally | 5 | 5 | 5 | No | I fixed this by going into the crawl space below, cutting into the insulation covering the expandable ac/heat tubing, removing the tape holding the tubing to a metal fitting nailed to the studs (the feeder into the room), and had my son reach into the feeder and tap on the flooring while I listened from above and marked the spot where it felt/sounded the loudest. I then drilled a pilot hole into the floor and was able to slide a piece of a hanger through the hole to know where I was - the rest was easy - drill a bigger hole and use a jig saw to create the opening. The feeder tube below was unreachable with the drill, thus the tapping routine. Hooked up the tubing, taped over the insulation and swept up the mess. All were happy and relieved. I gave 5's because there was no answer. |

I can't accurately rate knowledgeability yet because I've got all the food back in the freezer and am checking the defrost timer per the "authorized factory service" representative's instructions. He wasn't much help. Charged me $60 to show up looked at the freezer briefly and told me he couldn't find anything wrong! Told me to check the timer accessible only from the back of the freezer--I had to muscle it away from the wall to a point where I could do this. |
