2009-10-14Amelia10101010YesThank you SO much Diane, I had been keeping my lizards in "Digestible" mineral sand, but now I am going to start converting the cage into a more safe environment. I just wish I had known sooner before Dash ate it... :( Thanks again! Amelia, Tia Dalma and Cowboy
2009-10-13Jacqueline10101010YesThank you so much for all your information and advice! Most of the habitat information I have already corrected in the last couple of days, so I think I am set for that. I also found out that the stool sample I sent to the vet was not "fresh" enough, and since he is not eating there are no other samples, so I have an appointment to take him in today to get checked :) I am also VERY excited because today I grabbed him from his usual perch and handled him for a bit and he looked very groggy, unactive, and sleepy, but then I put him directly IN his pool, and it is a complete turn around! I attempted this yesterday as well but he wanted nothing to do with the water, but today he walked more into it, submerging most of his body, and has been drinking the water like crazy! His eyes are bright and wider now, and he is looking around the tank and seems more lively :) I am still taking him to the vet to get checked for the parasites, but Im so relieved to see him taking in water! And after he .....

Expertise

I am well versed in all aspects of the care and keeping of green iguanas, leopard geckos and bearded dragons. This includes all husbandry issues pertaining to the above species. I am not a vet so I cannot answer medical questions. I research other reptiles and am able to give general information on other species of lizards. I prefer not to answer snake questions as that I have not researched them enough.

Experience

I own 3 green iguanas, two of which are rescues. I own two leopard geckos, both rescues. I've had my reptiles for 7 years. I spend many hours researching the care of my reptiles to keep up to date on all information pertaining to keeping reptiles that I have. I own a yahoo group dedicated to raising healthy iguanas.
