I make floral designs with them so having my own would be ideal. You write like you really love what you do. Good for you. Makes life worthwhile doesn't it. Have a great day. carol |

| 2009-09-15 | Barb | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | No | Thanks for your help with the Diamond frost! I do not have a green thumb so I am not surprised with no success from me, but to stump the expert and that it might be something about the plant. good news to my ego. No flowers yet. I HAD been watering it fairly constantly and the couple times it dried out it was only a day or two and back to the watering. It has been a lot cooler this summer (not that I have had success in past years) but other then the damp soil it has been on the hottest south patio I have (full sun all day). The weather is wetter & cooling a lot here but I'll keep trying to dry it out. Thanks Again, Barb |
| 2009-09-10 | Leora | 10 | 10 | 8 | 10 | No | Dear CL, Thank you so much for your answer! I was told when I bought my plant that it was a shade plant, so I guess it's not getting enough sunlight! I try to water it on a fairly regular basis & not get too wet, and I haven't noticed any bugs in a while (we did have red & black beetle-type bugs all over them a month or so ago), so I think I'll try moving it to the sun! Thanks again! |

| 2009-08-21 | Victoria | 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 | Yes | This was great great information. After asking many many people about my hydrangea not blooming, C.L. is the first person who mentioned my flowers being to close to a lawn that gets fertilized. We have a lawn service that does that so that could be a strong possibility. |

Annuals suggested for specific situations (sun, shade, windowboxes etc) New or unusual annuals are a particular interest of mine, and I grow many of these from seed. I am happy to help problem solve, answer questions about maintenance, and guide you to sources of unusual plants.
I am a garden writer/speaker/consultant and host of a weekly gardening radio program in the Northeast. I have been gardening all my life for my own pleasure, and started as a professional gardener and garden communicator 15 years ago. I work part-time at a garden center, selling and tending shrubs/trees/annuals/perennials...and doing some propagation and design work. I often think that all these professional activities serve to put a somewhat legitimate framework around a serious case of plant-lust.
