2007-05-27Judy10101010NoThank you LIG. You are always helpful, and I learn a lot each time from you. I appreciate it so much. Yes, when I have gotten my hands into the soil, my hands feel like washed with soap, feeling alkaline. I should stop water the shrubs with weak tea (I have leftover black tea at work). I thought that tea is very good for human beings, so is for vegetations, I assume. Thank you for the daylily answer too. I was wondering why they produce flowers, because I knew that the new perennials usually try establishing roots and get themselves situated well enough before they flower the next year. I guess that my daylilies are trying to be grow-ups, like those teenage girls, hahaha..... Thank you again. I am sure that I will keep bothering you. :-)
2007-05-23Judy10101010YesI will take pictures of the shrubs, because I don't know what they are. Sorry for my ignorance; they were already planted when I moved to the house. I will send you the pictures, so perhaps you can identify them for me.
2007-05-21Judy10101010YesThank you very much. I think that they are mealy bugs, although they are so little and I could not really tell if they look exactly like the photos you provided. Your asnwers are always helpful. Thank you
2007-05-13Judy10101010NoHey, You are so full of knowledge, not only about organic garden, but also critters ,LOL ... Just kidding you. You have been so helpful, really really really. I cannot thank you enough. Well, I am sure that I will have more questions for you, since I am an organic beginner in gardening. It's really fun to learn organic matters. It's so easy to buy a commercial chemical fertilizer and do a one-step fertilizing, but it also takes away the fun of gardening, actually, besides its side effects. Thank you again
2007-05-11Judy10101010YesThank you so much Long Island Gardener. I really hope that my lawn would get better.

Long Island Gardener

Expertise

There is NO EXCUSE today for a gardener to use chemicals. Perfect Lawns? Pristine Roses? Immaculate Flowers all Summer long? If you live in the Northeast/Atlantic Coast, I'll guide you down the non-toxic road to Organica - and you will not believe how easy it can be. Yes, it can be complicated, but backing off from Ortho and Scotts is not as hard as you think. Your neighbors won't believe their eyes. I have intelligent answers on soil care, bug killing, weed control and fungus-freedom!

Experience

I have college credits in horticulture and botany, and 30 years of gardening for personal pleasure. Plus I am a volunteer docent at the local botanical gardens. But a person's real gardening skills are learned from trial and error. I am strict about not using chemicals in the garden. Always have been. Always will be.
