2008-09-05Jamie10101010YesThank you for your help and timely response. I used the soap spray and although my plant got a bit worse, it has now started some new healthy growth again!
2008-09-03Alice1081010NoMike - thanks. You asked if I had definitely identified the lilac white patch problem as flies, and noted it could be powdery mildew. when I was spraying the plant, I brushed against some of the white, which came off on my arm - it looked like small wings, but didn't really "act" like a whitefly. The one online powdery mildew picture does not look like what is on my lilac. Do you have a definitive way to tell? Would it hurt to just try the copper-based fungicide?
