2009-09-18Jeff10101010NoThanks Ron, I'll check these things out. I have a fairly competent VW mechanic, Tim Caves of Old Vdub Home in Southern California. We have eliminated vacuum leaks and valve adjustments, but not sure of the others. Best, Jeff
2009-04-29Chris10101010NoThanks Ron. I will try that and I'll post a follow-up on how it works out.

2008-01-19Mark10101010YesRon, Sorry it's taken so long to reply back to you. I checked the secondary air injection system like you said and I noticed that the electrical connection was full of water. I used compressed air to clean the connections and reset the "check engine" light and have been running happily ever since. However the real mysterey was how did that water get there in the first place. It finally came together for me when I realized that when I recently had the tranny serviced (long story)they take the van for a twenty minute test drive, and of course it was in the rain w/o the under carriage skid plate attached. Thus water mysterey/check engine light solved. Thanks Ron I couldn't of done it with out you. Mark

2007-09-18Ruben10101010YesThank you Ron for the advice. The fuel tank was actually not that bad. A small rubber boot had broken off of the fuel level float assembly and was getting lodged into the fuel feeder tube in the tank. I cleared out the tank and that took care of the problem.

2007-09-14Jim Reidy10101010YesThank you very much. We were thinking the green wire had something to do with it. (Sorry I referred to the rotor or points as the "carb". I have it listed on Ebay as item No. 300149337524 if you'd like to see it. There is a LOT of interest.
