2009-10-09Jennifer10101010NoHad my cast taken off yesterday morning and the mild itching continued through the night. Today the itching and rash is almost gone on my body. There is an extremely itchy rash where surgery and cast was, but it is getting much better since the removal of fiberglass cast. I have stopped taking the benadryl. Weird that I could have been allergic to it. Thanks for your suggestions! I am feeling way better now that the cast has been removed!
2009-10-07Chris10101010YesA clear, quick response that gave me a little more info about the meds than I knew before, even though they didn't directly relate to my question. My bottom line is that the insurance companies have all of us -- doctors and patients -- by the short hairs! That doctor at UCLA who has published some studies about sedation not being needed for colonoscopies should be given the cold shoulder by all of his colleagues, both gastroenetrologists and anethesiologists! What he has done is unconscionable to patients who can't tolerate the level of discomfort and pain involved in that procedure. I pay more and get less every year, and the CEO's get another few million dollars more each year in their paycheck. Oh, by the way, I asked an anethesiologist standing next to me in a grocery line this question, and he shook his head and said that he insisted on anethesia for his recent colonoscopy, that he wouldn't have done it without! The true answer is as long as insurance companies have the power, we really don't have medical care directed by our doctors, but by the untrained claims people and doctors who are paid to find reasons to .....
2009-10-03rputzy10101010Yesthank you very much for your help, i felt very guilty because i didn't push the doctor to consult the cardiologist before operation, when i knew my grand mother had heart disease, and after operation when i saw my grandmother seems okay, she didn't have a fever by the way, she even could talk and laugh, i had high hopes that she would be fine (the doctor never said that she got sepsis, they just said that the antibiotic that they gave was for prophylactic), again thank you very much for your kindness
2009-10-03Mark10101010NoThank you so much for your very informative, rapid and reassuring response. I am particularly grateful that a doctor of your distinction has taken the time and trouble to respond to my concerns.

I appreciate him taking time to answer my questions as thoroughly as possible even though some of them were out of his expertise. Because of a link he provided me with i believe i am closer to finding an answer to an issue that has been frustrating me for the past 4 years.
