2008-06-17Jan10101010YesDear Dr. Falkinburg: Thank you so much for your response. I find it quite amazing that, in order to get a clear, concise, logical response to a medical question that patients now have to turn to the Internet. I will get the laboratory test that you recommended (as distasteful as it sounds). If the results are abnormal, I'll ask for a referral to a nephrologist. Thank you again for sharing your expertise as an "AllExpert" volunteer, with me and with everyone else you have helped. Jan

2008-04-19Cindy10101010NoDr. F., Thank you so much for your reply. I cried yesterday because I thought maybe I WAS a hypochondriac and I was making a big deal out of nothing. On the NKDF I read that for someone my age their GFR should be near 90. Since I am being seen at an American Indian Clinic the cost to me for any service they can provide is free (government) and I don't have health insurance so that's why I go there. I had to practically beg for the 24 hr clearance test. They weren't going to order it until I told them I had conferred with a Nephrologist and that you said I needed one. I didn't tell them it was on Allexperts. So, if I had something from a Nephrologist that said I needed an ultrasound they might send me for one, who knows? Maybe I need to just see if a Nephrogolist here in Yuma, AZ would take payments from me and if so, make an appt. Thank you so much for letting me know I am concerned for good reason. Would it be okay with you if I showed your reply to me to the doctors at .....
2008-04-18Rose10101010NoDr Falkinburg, Thank you so much for this feedback and advise. I wish that you are my attending doctor now. Not many like you know these days took time to read patients blood results. I am now very cautious of my health issue since I had cancer. I make sure i had copy of my blood works and medical reports done to me: and go search. Thank you for your service and this is a grat idea helping many people in doubts about their medical conditions. Thanks again and may you continue to help many others in the future to come:) p.s. i made a booboo though i forgot to mention BUN/CREATININE RATIO (23)instead of Creatinine? my Creatinine is: 0.81 only thanks again for your advise I will sure make another appointment soon. I am seeing an internist already; He only told me to watch my diet???? once he received my blood report???? but i will go back to my lady doctor so she can referred me to a Nephrologist as you recommend. I will let you know what happened then. Good luck in all your humanitarian work: take care! Rose

2008-02-29Jean10101010NoTHANK YOU FOR YOUR TIMELY RESPONSE TO MY MEDICAL QUESTION. I WILL FOLLOW UP ON YOUR SUGGESTION TO HAVE AN OCCULT STOOL SAMPLE DONE TO RULE OUT GI CAUSE OF HIGH BUN/CREATININE RATIO.

2008-02-17Diana10101010No Thank-you, I was told if he was only urinating once per day that it was bad for his kidneys and would have an effect on them, not to mention potential for uti. He cannot feel his bladder, the way he can tell its time to go is with abdominal pain, then he can finally go. If I am reading your response right, you are saying once a day is perfectly fine, and would not effect his kidneys. Glad to hear this as it was a major concern. Thanks!
2008-02-06Mary10101010YesTHANK you, Dr. Falkinburg, your responses are exactly what I was hoping for and more. I so appreciate you taking the time to help me flesh out my facts for accuracy. In researching for this novel, I've been amazed and encouraged at the challenges victims of kidney disease face, things the rest of us take for granted. And likewise, ;O), may you be awarded the National Medical Award for Excellent "Research Help"! I will most likely be in touch again, thanks!
2008-02-04John10101010YesThanks a million Dr. Falkinburg!
2008-02-01Diana10101010YesI received my answer in less than 24 hours. It was very beneficial. I called my doctor and arranged for the recommended tests. More importantly I feel much better and have less anxiety.
