Retirement Planning/Post Question

Ask Aaron Hall a Question about Retirement Planning

Important:

Please read the following and "Instructions from the Expert" carefully before you post the question:

  • Please don't set your question to private unless it will personally identify you. The public questions will get high priority to be answered and can benefit more users. Don't put your personal information in the question.

  • After you submit your question, we'll send you an email as a receipt. You will be notified when the answer is ready. Please make sure your email server does not block or filter out emails from allexperts.com.

  • AllExperts is a 100% free site. Our experts spend lots of time to answer your questions. We ask only that you thank and rate the volunteer's answer upon your return.

Instructions from the Expert:

Be sure to ask with just your first name (or a made up one) so your privacy is protected (and so that I can answer publicly so that more people can benefit from my time spent.)  Although it's obvious you should not give account numbers or social security numbers, also when giving financial figures, use round numbers (for example: 3,500 or 250k instead of 3,425 and 247,956.)

When asking a question about retirement, please be sure to tell me:

yours and your spouse's age,
your taxable income,
how much you save out of your taxable income,
how much you have in savings (cash on hand for emergencies) and
retirement accounts (types and how much is in each),
your debts (again types and how much you owe on each and the current market value and type of related collateral),
whether or not you itemize your taxes,
if you have heirs you wish to leave money to (including relatives and tax exempt causes),
and at what age you would like to either retire or become financially free (the point at which you don't have to work anymore, but may if you choose).
